Early Roman Empire 1. What did Augustus Caesar achieve? He built a permanent professional army. He created the Praetorian guard. He conquers new territory (Gaul). He rebuilt Rome and made it beautiful. He fed the poor so they won't cause as much trouble. He improved Roman Government. He fixed the tax system and made the legal system fair. 2. Who led Rome after Augustus? After ruling for 40 years, Augustus dies in year 14. Augustus trained Tiberius to come after him and then we have Cladius, Caligula, and Nero. land back and they were promised that if they fought. 3. How did Julius Caesar become famous? He joined a political power with 2 other people. It was called the First Triumvirate. 4. What type of ruler was Julius Caesar? He was a ruler that wanted to have power always. He even declared himself dictator for life. 5. How did Rome become an Empire? Julius Caesar gained power and became a dictator but was assassinated. The reign of Augustus began a long period of imperial rule and peace in the Roman Empire. 6. Who was Augustus? He was Julius Caesar's nephew. He took over after CAesar was assassinated. |
